What Time of Day Do Domains Expire?
If probably doesn’t matter in most cases because you’ll want to use a dropcatcher, but have you ever wondered what time of day domains actually drop?
I recently ran across this information so I figured I would share!

- .com & .net = 1:00-1:30 PM
- .org = 8:30-9:00 AM
- .info = 3:30-4:00 AM
- .biz = 1:30-2:00 AM
- .us = 12:00-12:30 AM
Knowing Where to Backorder Domain Names
If you are new to backordering domains, it can often be tricky to figure out where exactly where you need to go to backorder a domain. Some domainers will backorder in multiple spots to increase their chances of getting the domain, but really all you need to do is look at who the domain was registered with to determine where you will need to backorder it. This is because most domain registrars have a contract with one of the backorder websites out there. The tricky part can figure out who is associated with whom!
Up until today, I’ve been attempting to maintain a list of dropcatchers on my Domainer Resources page, but today I ran across this great list of dropcatchers that I think I’ll be referring people to from now on. It is a very long list, so you should be able to find just about any registrar on it and which company they have a contract with.
Where Do You Backorder Most Of Your Domains?
In order to be a successful domainer, it seems that you truly need to have to devote some time to backordering domain names. This is a great way to find some diamonds in the rough and truly make some money, or get some quality domains to hang on to for awhile now.
Today while I was browsing through a few back order lists I began to wonder out loud about backordering domains. Where do you do most of your back orders? I regularly find domain names that I would love to own, but some I wouldn’t pay the minimum $60.00+ on, and the others get bid up really high.
For many part-time domainers it can be tough to spend that kind of money regularly on domain names, which creates a significant advantage for full-time domainers with deep pockets to snatch up any domains that might have a long term value.
